Most of UK’s Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Act 2018 now in force
The UK has enacted The Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Act 2018 (Commencement No. 1) Regulations 2018 (SI 2018/1213), bringing much of the Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Act 2018 into force (21 November). The Act was created to provide the legislative basis for the UK sanctions framework after Brexit. The remaining provisions of the Act, including ‘the repeal of certain existing legislation relating to sanctions’ as well as sections 49 and 51 relating to anti-money laundering, ‘are intended to be brought into force at a later date.’
