Soccer and flight data payments amongst items subject to OFSI licences
The UK’s Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (‘OFSI’) has published details of general licences that it has issued between 1 January 2021 and the present time.
All the licences, with two exceptions which relate to Belarus, refer to the sanctions regime concerning Russia.
The first of the licences permits persons ‘to make payments out of non-frozen funds to the State Unitary Enterprise of the Crimea Republic (Crimean Sea Ports) for a number of services.
The most recent, issued in May, allows for the continuation of business services with North American subsidiaries of the company Evraz.
Other licences include one which permits transactions with Chelsea Football Club (owned by the sanctioned oligarch, Roman Abramovich), and one which permits flight data providers to make payments to Belaeronavigatsia for aeronautical information publication data. Belaeronavigatsia is the state-owned provider of air navigation services in Belarus.
