Change on the horizon for Ireland
It is understood that Ireland’s Department of Enterprise Trade and Employment is currently liaising with the Office of the Parliamentary Counsel to draft a revised Control of Exports Bill, with publication due before the end of the second quarter of 2022. Drafting is thought to be at an advanced stage. The Bill will update and repeal the Control of Exports Act 2008 and bring a number of current statutory instruments for dual-use and military controls under one piece of primary legislation. It is thought that the legislation will include new powers for regulatory authorities, and create new penalties for breaches.
