Israel seeks comments on export control changes
Israel’s Ministry of Trade and Economy (“IMOE”) is seeking industry comment on a report (in Hebrew only) which sets out potential and significant changes to its export control regime.
The ministry describes the report as a ‘rethinking’ by the regulator (the ‘Diamonds and Dual-Use Export Control Administration’) on its responsibilities, in the light of changes in international regulation and the new approaches to enforcement, and greater access to ‘information, knowledge and consulting services’ on the part of those typically applying for export licences.
As noted in recent issues of ECM and WorldECR, Israel continues to develop its export control regime in response to need and international expectations. There has been a recent campaign by the IMOE to “increase awareness of (and compliance with) civilian dual-use export controls by incentivising Israeli companies to both review their businesses from a dual-use export control perspective and voluntarily disclose past export control violations.”
