EU 10th sanctions package to include bans on rare earths, thermal cameras, electronics
While full details of the EU’s 10th package of sanctions against Russia have yet to be announced, on 15 February, European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen announced that it would include ‘further export bans worth more than €11 billion,’ and that it would be ‘targeting many industrial goods that Russia…cannot get through backfilling by third countries…such as electronics, specialized vehicles, machine parts, spare parts for trucks and jet engines.’
And, she said, the Commission is proposing ‘controls on 47 new electronic components that can be used in Russian weapons systems, including drones, missiles, helicopters, and on specific rare earth materials and thermal cameras.’
