Australia amends Defence and Strategic Goods List
Australia’s Defence Export Controls (‘DEC’) has updated its Defence and Strategic Goods List (‘DSGL’) (17 April). The DSGL Amendment Instrument 2018 includes a total of 99 amendments, which are either new controls, or deletions or modifications of existing controls. Forty-six of the amendments remove or reduce the requirement to obtain an approval prior to export; 30 are either new controls or create ‘an expanded scope’ for existing controls; and the remainder are clarifications.
DEC said that it has assessed that ‘overall, the amendments will have a limited impact on Australian exporters and researchers’.
