He teaches at several universities and regularly provides training and publishes in legal literature. Yvo is probably the most interviewed and quoted sanctions expert in the Netherlands, but he is also regularly interviewed by international media, including I-TV and the Guardian. Yvo is a co-author of the chapter on criminal enforcement in the Dutch Handbook on Investment firms and author of numerous articles on sanctions and export controls.

In 2017, Yvo was awarded the title of WorldECR Young Practitioner of the Year worldwide in the field of sanctions and export control.
