Doug is a Partner in KPMG LLP and the Head of KPMG’s Global Trade and Customs Services practice. He has more than 25 years of experience in the global trade field, assisting clients across industries with a full array of global trade advisory services from strategy development through the deployment of technology. Further, Doug leads the firm’s global initiative to be the market leader for providing world-class global trade management automation services.
Doug leads a team of 450+ member firm trade and customs professionals globally with over 90 professionals in the US. Doug is responsible for leading the development and delivery of a comprehensive range of export control and ITAR services for global organisations across industries. These include advising on issues relating to commodity jurisdiction, classification, global trade management systems, processes and technology and organisational design.
Prior to joining KPMG, Doug was a customs official with the Regulatory Audit Division of the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection. Later he was an executive at one of the largest international traders in the Caribbean and Latin America. His responsibilities included oversight of all export, import and foreign trade zone activities.
Doug earned a MBA degree from the NYU Stern School of Business and a BS degree in accounting and information systems from Queens College. He is also a licensed US customs broker and is a certified public accountant (CPA) in the States of Maryland and Illinois. Doug was a member of the Board of Governors of the American Association of Exporters and Importers for a 10-year period and now serves on the association’s Industry Leadership Council.
In the community, Doug serves on the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross, Greater IL and Chicago Chapter. Further, Doug is the Office Partner Champion for KPMG’s Veterans’ Network.
