Belarus excluded from nine UK OGELs
The UK’s Export Control Joint Unit (‘ECJU’) says it has removed Belarus as a permitted destination from nine open general licences (‘OGELs’) in response to the country’s ‘involvement in Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.’
The ECJU announced: ‘Further to Belarus’s involvement in Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, the Export Control Joint Unit has re-assessed relevant open general export licences against the Strategic Export Licensing Criteria. Consequently, Belarus has been removed as a permitted destination from 9 open general export licences.’
The OGELs pertain to chemicals, cryptographic development, export after exhibition, export for repair/replacement under warranty, and exports of items ‘that have relaxed controls’, e.g., Category ‘X’.
