DHS updates Uyghur forced labour Entity List
The US Department of Homeland Security (‘DHS’) has published an updated Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (‘UFLPA’) Entity List, to include five new entities allegedly involved in forced labour practices linked to China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (‘XUAR’).
The recent update, published on the DHS’ Forced Labor Enforcement Task Force (‘FLETF’) website, adds two entities identified as working with the XUAR government to recruit, transport, transfer, harbour, or receive forced labour from Uyghurs, Kazakhs, Kyrgyz, or other persecuted groups. Another two entities have been added for sourcing materials from the XUAR, particularly through government labour schemes such as the ‘poverty alleviation’ or ‘pairing-assistance’ programs, which are associated with forced labour. A fifth entity has been identified under both categories.
The newly-designated entities include the Xinjiang Tengxiang Magnesium Products Co., Ltd., Century Sunshine Group Holdings, Ltd. and Rare Earth Magnesium Technology Group Holdings, Ltd.
