OFAC issues new FAQs regarding provision of services to Venezuelan national carrier
The US Office of Foreign Assets Control (‘OFAC’) has issued four new Venezuela-related FAQs, following an easing of some oil, gas and gold sanctions last month.
FAQ’s 1141-1144 specify the conditions under which US persons can provide refuelling and general maintenance services to blocked aircraft of Conviasa, Venezuela’s national airline.
Last month, the Biden administration eased some sanctions on Caracas following an agreement between the government of President Nicolás Maduro and the US-backed opposition over presidential elections that were agreed for the second half of next year.
