Third countries align with EU decisions on terrorism and Ukraine

The Council of the European Union announced the list of candidate countries, and the countries that are part of the European Free Trade Association (‘EFTA’), that have aligned with the bloc’s decisions last month regarding ISIL and Al-Qaeda, measures to combat terrorism and on Ukraine.

It said, 2 February, that North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Albania, Ukraine, Republic of Moldova, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Georgia, the EFTA country Liechtenstein, member of the European Economic Area, as well as Armenia align themselves with the Council’s decision concerning restrictive measures against ISIL (Da’esh) and Al-Qaeda, designating one person and removing a deceased individual from its sanctions list.

North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Ukraine, Republic of Moldova, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Liechtenstein also aligned themselves with the Council’s 16 December decision on the application of specific measures to combat terrorism.

Meanwhile, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Ukraine, Republic of Moldova, BosniaHerzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway aligned themselves with the Council’s 21 December decisions that one person and one entity responsible for actions undermining or threatening Ukraine’s sovereignty and independence should be added to the EU list of entities subject to restrictive measures.
