UK OGEL security clarification issued
The UK’s Export Control Joint Unit has issued a notice clarifying security provisions relating to 12 open general export licences (‘OGELs’).
It says ‘Twelve military and dual-use OGELs have been amended to confirm, where applicable, that the requirement for a written letter of clearance to comply with the security conditions and requirements of the OGEL can be fulfilled by holding an approved F1686 [form]. The F1686 procedure itself and actions required to obtain one have not changed.’
The updated OGELs are:
- export after repair/replacement under warranty: dual use items
- export for repair/replacement under warranty: dual use items
- certified companies
- export after repair/replacement under warranty: military goods
- export for repair/replacement under warranty: military goods
- exports or transfers in support of UK government defence contracts
- exports under the US-UK Defence Trade Cooperation Treaty
- military components
- military goods, software and technology
- military goods, software and technology: government or NATO end use
- software and source code for military goods
- technology for military goods
